Legacy Rescue &
Modernization

Your PHP 5.6 store is running on borrowed time. We modernize e-commerce stores from outdated codebases, crashing platforms, and unsupported CMS versions — without a single day of unplanned downtime.

Sound familiar?

Most clients come to us after weeks of patching symptoms. These are the problems we solve.

🔴
PHP 5.x / 7.x end of life
Your hosting provider is pushing you to upgrade but your store breaks on PHP 8. We handle the migration safely.
💥
Store crashes under load
Every marketing campaign ends in a crash. Your infrastructure can't handle spikes because of architectural debt.
🐌
Pages load in 8+ seconds
Slow stores lose sales. Legacy code with no caching, unindexed DB, and bloated queries kills conversion rates.
🔒
Security vulnerabilities
Outdated PHP and CMS versions have known exploits. You're running customer card data on compromised software.
🧟
Undocumented custom code
Previous devs left no docs. Nobody knows what half the code does. Every change is a risk.
📉
SEO dropped after update
A platform update killed your URL structure or sitemaps. Rankings collapsed. We can reconstruct and recover.

What we actually do

Deep technical diagnosis

Before touching a single line of code, we map the full picture: server configuration, database schema, PHP version compatibility, extension matrix, and SEO state.

  • Static code analysis for PHP 8.x compatibility
  • Database query profiling and index audit
  • Server logs analysis for error patterns
  • Extension & dependency matrix check
  • SEO snapshot before any changes

Safe version migration

PHP 5 → 8 is not a find-and-replace job. Deprecated functions, removed globals, strict typing changes, and extension incompatibilities require careful, staged work.

  • Staged upgrade (5.6 → 7.4 → 8.1 → 8.2)
  • Custom compatibility shim development
  • Full regression testing on staging
  • Zero-downtime deployment plan
  • Rollback strategy prepared and tested

CMS & framework update

Whether OpenCart, Magento, WordPress, or a custom MVC — we update the core and every extension, resolving conflicts and rewriting incompatible custom modules.

  • OpenCart, Magento, Drupal, WordPress, etc migration
  • Custom module rewrite for new API
  • Theme compatibility & rebuild
  • Third-party integration re-verification

Post-migration hardening

After the upgrade, we optimize for performance and stability: caching layers, database cleanup, query optimization, and monitoring setup.

  • Redis / OPcache configuration
  • Database optimization & reindexing
  • NGINX tuning for new PHP version
  • Error monitoring setup (Sentry / custom)
  • Documentation of all changes made

Project timeline

Discovery & audit
Access to server, codebase, and analytics. We run static analysis, review server config, and produce a full risk assessment with prioritized fix list.
Staging environment setup
Full clone of production on staging server. All subsequent work happens here. Nothing touches live until you approve.
Upgrade & compatibility work
PHP upgrade, extension updates, custom module rewrites, theme adjustments. Daily progress reports. Scope can expand if new issues are found — you're always notified.
Testing & QA
Full checkout flow, payment gateway verification, SEO check (crawl, sitemaps, canonicals), performance benchmarks before and after.
Production deployment
Scheduled during low-traffic hours. Rollback plan tested and ready. Monitoring active from minute one.

Recent work

OpenCart 2.3 on PHP 5.6 → Modern stack

A fashion retailer with 80,000 SKUs and $2M annual GMV was running on PHP 5.6 with a hacked OpenCart 2.3. Regular crashes, 9-second page loads, and a hosting provider threatening to pull support. We migrated the full platform to OpenCart 3 on PHP 8.2 in 5 weeks without a single lost order.

Common questions

Will my store stay online during the migration? add
All work is done on a staging clone of your production environment. Nothing changes on live until you've approved the result and we've scheduled a deployment window — typically during your lowest-traffic hours (2–5 AM).
How long does a typical PHP upgrade take? add
Most projects complete in 3–5 weeks. Simple stores with few custom modifications: 2–3 weeks. But the timeline can vary based on the complexity of your current setup and any unforeseen issues that may arise.
Will my SEO rankings be affected? add
We take a full SEO snapshot before starting — URL structure, sitemaps, canonical tags, and crawl state. We preserve all existing URLs and redirect logic. Performance improvements typically result in ranking gains, not losses.
What if issues are found during the audit that weren't in scope? add
We notify you immediately with a clear description and impact estimate. You decide whether to include it in scope or defer it. We never expand scope silently — every change is discussed and approved.
